Yet Another Title for Highgate

09/11/15: The Richard Black Cup is now in its seventh year and the numbers of participants, the standard and the strength in depth all continue to rise, making the 2015 edition of the competition the best yet. The fantastic group of players from Highgate School won for the fourth successive year, but they had to work very hard to defeat perennial challengers North Oxford. The gap between these two teams and the rest was still there this year, but it is closing all the time and the standard of play throughout the competition, all the way down to the 7th/8th place match was both hugely impressive and highly encouraging for the future of ladies Fives.

Nov 2014: Black Sunday - Three in a row for Highgate

10/11/14: The 2014 Richard Black Cup was won for the third successive year at Eton on Sunday 9th November by Highgate School, who once again proved that they have the ability and strength in depth necessary to succeed in team Fives. This year's entry featured a record eight teams and forty-eight players in total with a welcome new entry from Berkhamsted School and a day of Fives that had a bit of everything - close matches, high-quality matches, players returning to the game after a while away and plenty of newcomers, who all gained invaluable experience and improved visibly during the course of the day.

Black To Black Wins For North Oxford

12/11/18: In an exciting sporting weekend, some will have gone for England v New Zealand at Twickenham as their highlight. For some it will have been the Manchester derby while a few might even have opted for the tennis at the O2 or the Brazilian grand prix. Anyone living in Wigan, St.Helens or parts of Solihull might even have chosen the Rugby League. For those who consider themselves to be the real sporting cognoscenti, however, the only game in town was the tenth anniversary Richard Black Cup at Eton, in association with Advanta Wealth.

2013 Black Cup: Highgate Girls Back in Black

The Richard Black has been going now for five years and is well established as one of the highlights of the Fives calendar, providing an EFA Trophy style competition for the ladies game, only with better prizes. This year’s edition almost had a record entry of 8 teams and even with the late withdrawals of Cambridge University and the Highgate second team, it was still a very healthy number of teams and players who made it to Eton on Remembrance Sunday to compete for the trophy.
