2012 Ladies Final: Red Letter Day for the Redmond Sisters

The 2012 Ladies Final was won at Eton yesterday by sisters Dominique and Lia Redmond who beat Charlotta Cooley and Marianne Rees 12-5, 12-9, 12-5 in a splendid exhibition of Fives.

Much interest had centred on how Dominique would fare without Kerry White - with whom she has seven successive titles - but Lia showed that she is beginning to fulfil the potential she showed as a very young finalist in this competition a few years ago. The Olavian pair of Charlotta and Marianne fought hard and cut well and the second game in particular was close, but the superior cut returning and consistency of the Redmond sisters was too much in the end as victory was claimed in straight games.
