Joe Leach: "Eton Fives Is A Great Game..."

21/03/17: Newly appointed Worcestershire cricket captain Joe Leach has taken to Twitter recently to show his appreciation for Eton Fives.

Joe is an Old Salopian and represented the school at Fives during his time there; he is now a top county cricketer and has used Twitter to encourage aspiring cricketers to have a go at Eton Fives. The links between Fives and cricket go back a long way to Kinnaird Cup winner Peter May and beyond, via the likes of Cambridge Half-Blue Mike Brearley, Schools' Champion Nick Pocock and former Prep Schools' finalist Phil Tufnell (the EFA Annual Review of 1978/79 describes Tufnell as "a strong left-hander"). Joe is also one of several current county cricketers who played Fives at school.
