2008 Universities Tournament

The Universities tournament was held this year on Saturday 15th November at Highgate School. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to persuade players from farther-flung universities to attend, but instead we got a good turnout from Oxford and Cambridge, the only two universities with active Eton Fives clubs, including three (and a half) Ladies' pairs.

2008/09 County Championships

Qualifying Round: Eton 9th November 2008

Six sides took part in an all-play-all format with matches played as one set up to 15. Last year's champions, Hertfordshire, proved too strong for the opposition, winning all of their matches, and they were joined in the semis by Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Middlesex.

2008 Midlands Tournament

This year's event was bigger and better than last year, as we had over double the entry and over double the number of players, guests and partners at the evening dinner. We had over 40 pairs enter across the weekend with three of the 40 pairs coming from the Rugby Fives community at Derby Moor School which is just up the road - they were most welcome and should be congratulated for their effort.

2008 London Tournament

The London Tournament took place at Harrow School on the 13/14th December and as usual the rain, cold and windy weather came along for the ride. This year's tournament had a slight change, with the Festival becoming a one day event on the Sunday. We had 22 pairs enter the main competition and 16 pairs enter the festival - a great turnout for a competition so close to Christmas.

2008/09 Turnbull Trophy

This year's Turnbull Trophy saw a large entry, with a wide range of standards. We had close to 20 pairs from over ten different school and Old Boys clubs including St Olave's/Old Olavians, Berkhamsted School/Old Berkhamstedians, Lancing College/Lancing Old Boys, Westway, St Bartholomew's School/Coach, Emanuel School/Old Emanuels, Charterhouse school/Old Carthusians, RGS High Wycombe and Stowe School/Old Stoics.
