2009/10: Olavians 1 snatch the Division 1 title by half a point

With the League season drawing to a close, Division One has been won by the Old Olavians 1 in an extremely tense finish. With nearest rivals the Old Harrovians dropping a crucial point at third pair against the Old Cholmeleians a couple of weeks ago, the chance was there for the Olavians to edge in front by half a point by winning both their last two matches 3-0. This they achieved, with wins over the Cholms and the Westminsters, where their second pair were winning 2-1 and at 12-12 in the fourth when the match was timed out. The Olavians thus win the League title for the eighth time in nine years, having lost out to the Harrovians last year. Division 3 looks likely at this stage to be won by the Abbey Club, although some of the other teams do have enough games in hand theoretically to catch them at the top of the table.
