Ronald Pattison is 2011/12 Jester of the Year

The Annual Jesters Dinner is always a splendid occasion and this year's event at the RAC Club in London on Tuesday was no exception. As usual there was a good Eton Fives contingent present and they were able to witness Ronald Pattison receive the prestigious accolade of "Jester of the Year". The profile of the Eton Fives section has risen considerably in recent years, mainly due to Ronald's sterling efforts in promoting the game within the club, and this well-deserved award provides a further boost to the standing of Eton Fives within the Jesters.
2012 Kinnaird Festival Final

The all-Salopian final of the Kinnaird Festival was played at Shrewsbury last Friday with Connor Jones and Jack Flowers beating Adam Morris and Rory Mucklow 2-0 (12-8, 12-6).

2012 Kinnaird Cup: Top seeds through to the Last Four

56 pairs took part in the Kinnaird Cup and Kinnaird Festival at Eton over the weekend, with the top four seeds making it through to the semi-finals of the main tournament in two weeks time and two Shrewsbury School pairs reaching the final of the Festival.

2012 Varsity Match: Oxford regain the crown

Rodney Knight reports:

In this Jubilee year it was the Dark Blues who swept the board in the Men's Blues match; and although Cambridge Penguins did the same in the second team match, the Light Blues have reason to be disappointed with their result on the day. The Ladies match saw a clean sweep for the Oxford team, whilst Cambridge took the Alumni match 5-1.

2012 Northern Tournament Festival: Cymru am Byth

The Northern Tournament Festival was won at the weekend by Cardiff University pair Alex Yusaf and Edward Leakey, who defeated Shrewsbury School pair Sansom Yick and Jamie Humes 2-1 (12-7, 11-12, 12-5) in the final to win the Malcolm Mitchell Memorial Shields.

March 2012: Shrewsbury win the Williams Cup

Mark Williams reports:

Six schools entered this competition which is for school teams of 6 players. The format is a round-robin where each school plays a two game match over 3 pairs against each of the other schools. Shrewsbury confirmed their current status as the leading Fives school at this level by beating all of the other schools, and only dropped one game in their 2nd pair match against St Olave's.

North Stars: Cooley and Dunbar retain the 2012 Northern

Top seeds Tom Dunbar and Seb Cooley retained their Northern Tournament title with a convincing 3-0 (12-7, 12-3, 12-7) win over James Toop and Matthew Wiseman at Shrewsbury on Sunday.

April 2012: Berkhamsted win Division 1

It has been only a matter of time for a while, but Berkhamsted can now officially celebrate winning Division 1 of the EFA League for the first time since 1985. Old Harrovians beat Old Millhillians 1 2-1 at Mill Hill during the week to boost their chances of a top two finish, but the point dropped means that Berkhamsted are now uncatchable at the top of the table with a game to spare, barring any penalty point disasters in their final fixture.
