EFA Tournament Update

23/09/20: I am sure you have all seen the latest updates from the government regarding coronavirus restrictions; as it stands none of these changes affect what is happening at the moment. We will, of course, keep monitoring the situation closely. Below is an update on what is currently planned.

Tournaments at Eton

The Eton courts are available for us to use during the course of Eton's half-term. During this time, we are hoping to be able to complete the 2020 Kinnaird Cup and Ladies Championships and also run the following two competitions in association with Advanta Wealth:

Saturday 24th October: Universities Tournament
Sunday 25th October: Under 25s Tournament

Please let me know if you would like to take part in either of these competitions.

The Midlands tournament is also currently still scheduled for the weekend of 31st Oct/1st Nov at Repton. Howard & Dom will provide further information in due course.

Due to the lack of court availability and the issues involved with running large-scale tournaments and ones with mixtures of adults and school pupils taking part, we have decided for now to postpone the following tournaments scheduled for October and November - the Peter Boughton Cup (Mixed team tournament), the Richard Black Cup and the EFA Trophy qualifying rounds. We are constantly reviewing the schedule in the light of the current COVID situation, the latest government guidance as it changes and the availability of courts to play on and hope to be able to reschedule some or all of these events for later in the season.

League

The situation with the league remains unchanged for now; please do continue arranging and playing matches where possible and report the results in as usual. We will keep an open mind for the moment as to what may be possible over the course of the whole season and will wait for a while to see how things pan out before taking any decisions about the league format for this year.

Alan Barber Cup

This competition is proceeding as normal and most first round matches have now been arranged.

It has been good to see how much Fives activity there has been over the last few weeks, with the Newbury & Emanuel clubs up and running, lots of clubs using the courts at Mill Hill and the courts at High Elms and Torry Hill getting played on a lot more than they usually would. Pay & Play at Westway has also resumed this week.

Thank you to everyone for making all this happen and for following the EFA guidelines so assiduously to ensure that everyone who wants to has been able to play safely.
