Westminsters Do The Double

27/03/24: The Old Westminsters won their final Division 1 match of the season last night to clinch the league title and complete an outstanding league and cup double.

Division 1 has been a two horse race all season, with 2023 champions the Old Salopians and 2022 winners the Old Westminsters way ahead of the rest and neck and neck pretty much from start to finish. The Westminsters struck a crucial blow with a 2-1 win against their nearest rivals at the start of March, leaving them needing two points from their final match against the Harrovians, which they duly managed with a 3-0 win at Highgate last night.

With the Alan Barber Cup already in the bag, this completes a fantastic season for the Old Westminsters, who become only the fifth team since the league was founded over 50 years ago to win the double following in the footsteps of the Berkhamstedians (1974), Cholmeleians (1979, 1991, 1994, 1995), Salopians (1993) and Olavians (2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015).
