John Lyon’s Charity awards the EFA £105,000 grant for Fives development at Westway

The EFA is delighted to announce that John Lyon’s Charity has made available a grant of £35,000 per year for three years, 2016-2018, to contribute towards the costs of a Fives Manager/Coach and an Assistant Coach at the Westway Centre, Shepherds Bush, London.

The EFA, in collaboration with UK Wallball, will be in charge of delivering an ambitious programme of developing Eton Fives and Wallball at the Centre. Outreach targets include:

· Schools in local boroughs

· University Fives ( especially the new ImperialCollegefacility)

· Youth Clubs

· Disabled people

· Over 45s

· Family Fives

· Women’s Fives

· Ethnic Minorities

The only way that such an ambitious programme can be achieved is by having dedicated outreach and coaching staff at the centre, which has the only publicly-owned Fives courts in the UK. It will build on the success of the local Westway club and the popular twice weekly Pay and Play sessions.

Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, progress has been made in the last nine months with one local school taking up Eton Fives and a Saturday morning kids’ club being started with an enthusiastic membership.

The EFA is now looking to fill two positions as soon as possible:

Manager/Coach (full-time or job-share)

Assistant Coach (part-time)

Both positions will report to the EFA Board.

Job descriptions and person specifications for both jobs can be obtained by contacting either Paul Bowden, EFA Director, on 07792 181674 or paulrayb at hotmail.com or Gareth Hoskins, EFA Secretary, on garethjhoskins at yahoo.co.uk. Please feel free to contact either Paul or Gareth if you want further information.

Please submit your application to Paul Bowden at the latest by 5pm, Wednesday 9th December at which point the application period will close.
