EFA League Division 2 2009/10: Berko boys bring it home
Having set the pace at the top of the table for the vast majority of the season, Berkhamsted finally clinched the Division 2 title and the Aston House Cup with a 3-0 win over the Old Carthusians at Highgate last week.
2009: Early courts at Uppingham get a makeover
Most people in the game are aware of Uppingham as a centre for Fives: the school has four courts and a long tradition of producing Fives players.
2010 Aldenham Tournament

Twenty four invited players battled for the Jim Fredenham Cup at the Aldenham Heath Fives Club on Sunday 9 May in the club's annual tournament. Congratulations to finalists Simon Turpin and Gareth Hoskins who defeated Paul Kendall and Matthew Woods 12-4, 4-10 at the end of their 30 minute game.
2010 Mixed: No debate as Pete and Kerry get the Mixed vote

The Mixed Championships took place at Eton on Sunday May 2nd with 24 pairs enjoying a great day's Fives. The final was a repeat of last year's but with a different result this time round as Peter Cohen and Kerry White recovered from one game down to defeat defending champions Seb and Charlotta Cooley 6-12, 12-10, 12-6 in a high quality final.
2009 Midlands: Wiseman and Cooley reign at Repton

This year's Midland Tournament took place at Repton on the weekend of October 31st/November 1st. Nearly forty pairs made the pilgrimage to Derbyshire for one of the most sociable and fun events on the Fives calendar. The Fives was pretty good too, with Olavians Howard Wiseman and Seb Cooley coming away with the trophy.
2009/10 Alan Barber Cup: another win for the unstoppable Olavians
The Alan Barber Cup was won this year by the Old Olavians, who defeated the Old Salopians 3-0 in the final at Eton on February 21st. This was the 7th victory in succession for the Olavians and their 10th win in eleven years.
Malcolm Mitchell (1938-2010)
Shrewsbury School and the Old Salopians, with many others, are mourning the untimely death of Malcolm Mitchell at 71.
One of his many contributions to a more civilised world was to help form the Monday Club and inaugurate the Northern Championships, which he also ran originally. His love of Fives, which he played to a high standard, also rubbed of on his three children, Andrew, Fiona and Ian.

Traditionally the preserve of public school players, Eton fives is attempting to reach out to the wider community. ED SAUNT visited the only public courts in Britain at the Westway Sports Centre to get to grips with his 'blackguards', 'buttresses' and 'pepper-pots'.
2009/10 Under 25 Tournament

Despite the freezing cold conditions, the Under 25s Tournament made a comeback this year, with Robert Desmond and Annabel Griffiths doing a sterling job to attract a good number of players to Highgate for the first major competition of 2010.
