2012 Kinnaird Cup: Top seeds through to the Last Four

56 pairs took part in the Kinnaird Cup and Kinnaird Festival at Eton over the weekend, with the top four seeds making it through to the semi-finals of the main tournament in two weeks time and two Shrewsbury School pairs reaching the final of the Festival.

2011 Kinnaird Cup Semis: Top seeds into the Final

Doug Foster and George Campbell started the first two games well against James Toop and Matt Wiseman, and tried to play forceful attacking fives throughout. However the latter's consistency and all round excellence with very few errors dominated the match, and they won comfortably in three straight games.

This year's Kinnaird Cup qualifying rounds took place at Eton over the weekend of 26th/27th February. The entry was disappointingly low this year, with 28 pairs in the main tournament and 20 in the Sunday Festival, but the level of enjoyment on court and the quality of Fives produced by the top pairs were as high as ever.

2010: James Toop and Matthew Wiseman regain the Kinnaird Cup

The Kinnaird Cup final took place at Eton on Sunday March 28th and was won by James Toop and Matthew Wiseman, who defeated holders Tom Dunbar and Peter Dunbar 3-1 (12-7, 15-12, 9-12, 12-8) in a hard-fought and fantastically high quality match.

Kinnaird Cup 2007

Preliminary Rounds (Weeekend 17-18th February - Eton)

Recruitment for the Kinnaird was started rather later that one would ideally like, due to unforseen circumstances. However, 110 people still took part in the preliminary weekend, which broke down into 35 pairs for the main draw, and 20 pairs into the Festival on the Sunday. As ever, Eton proved to be a fantastic venue. The Marquee was up, and crucially Mark Williams was in it – armed with his lap-top computer, the Fives balls and the Draw.

Kinnaird Cup 2006

Following the enormous entry to the Kinnaird in the 2004-2005 season, it was inevitable that there would be good general awareness that it would soon be coming round again. Mark Herring did a great job at alerting everyone as to the precise dates, but chose not to pursue players on the telephone and to pro-actively recruit it as he had done so successfully the previous year.
