2017 Prep Schools' Championships

18/03/17: The Preparatory Schools Fives Championship 2017 was won by Sunningdale in a well fought final against Summer Fields.

Sunningdale’s pair included Sebastian Hopkins who won in 2016 and he was ably assisted by a relatively new partner Louis Hopton. It was held at Eton College on Friday 17th March 2017 with 32 pairs entered. The first round surprise was Sunningdale 4 winning their group defeating Highgate 1. Indeed Sunningdale had three out of their four pairs qualifying through the group stages. The match of the tournament was the semi-final between Summer Fields and Sunningdale 2. It went right to the wire and Summer Fields prevailed in the set in the third game. In the final Hopkins’ balance and tenacious spirit backed up by Hopton’s power and consistency proved too much for the Summer Fields pair who were likely feeling some effects from their semi-final. The score was 12-7, 12-7.

The Jeremy Marston Plate was won by Ludgrove 2 who beat Summer Fields 2. Sunningdale 3 beat Aldenham 1 in the final of the Roddy Forman Salver.
